If you’re returning to work after an extended period, considering a complete change of direction or even thinking of leaving medicine altogether, I can help you navigate the best way forward. I know it can feel like you’re the only person who’s in this situation but you might be surprised to know how many of my clients are just like you.
My diverse experience has given me a unique awareness of the challenges doctors can face throughout their careers. I have particular expertise in working with international medical graduates and with doctors whose careers have been impacted by health or other personal issues.
I can help you understand all your options and clarify which ones would best suit you. I’ll make sure your CV and application showcase your unique skills and I’ll work with you to build your confidence so you can present your skills brilliantly at interview.
I’ll show you all the options, help you narrow down the possibilities and give you a solid plan (and plenty of support) to take the next step forward.
Changing career direction or returning from a break can be really hard. The options are not always clear and it’s often difficult to know where to start.

I’ll not only help you find the area that suits you best, I’ll also give you detailed information about the realities of working in that area and how to apply, as well as the specific steps you can take to maximise your chances of success.
I’ll take all of the guesswork out of it and give you a detailed plan to move forward.
Here’s what you’ll get:
- 90 minute consultation with me in person or on Skype
- A detailed report outlining the best options for your particular circumstances, including specific advice about concrete next steps you can take
- Detailed information on your options, including requirements for training and “insider” information about the realities of working in that area
- Unlimited email support from me

CV + APPLICATION EDITING
Once you’ve figured out the area you want to pursue, it’s time to get your CV up to date and make sure your application highlights all your skills. Particularly if you’re applying for non-clinical jobs, your CV and application need to be carefully tailored.
If you know you can do the job, but can’t put your strengths and biggest achievements down on paper as an impressive, cohesive CV and written application, let me help.
During the busy application period, I limit the number of clients I take to ensure that everyone gets my full attention and that I’m able to provide a timely service. I aim to get your CV and application back to you within 3 working days.
CV editing: $220
Selection criteria editing: from $330
I have years of experience of assessing applications and can help you make sure you don’t end up on the “culled” pile.
Do you find yourself flustered in interviews? Your mind goes blank? Or you start talking and can’t stop? Have you missed out on a training position despite being qualified because your interview wasn’t up to scratch?
Preparation is key when it comes to nailing a successful interview but it’s not just a matter of getting hold of some past questions and practising with friends or family. You need to understand what the interviewers are looking for and highlight your strengths and achievements in a way that’s confident but not cocky.
I’ve interviewed hundreds of doctors across all specialities, so I know the types of questions you’re likely to be asked and the kinds of responses the interviewers will be looking for. In 2017, every one of my interview preparation candidates was offered the position they’d applied for. This is what some of them said:
“Jo guided me through a step-by-step approach on handling a variety of interview questions and assisted me in identifying my strengths and weaknesses. She has a great toolset which aided my preparation for the SET interview. As a result of our coaching process, I developed the clarity and self-confidence I needed for the SET program interview. Most importantly, by following her approach I was successfully accepted into the AOA SET program 2018.” Successful Orthopaedic applicant
“Thank you for your help. All my interviews were smooth because of the extensive practice with you.” Successful BPT applicant
In order to give you the best possible service, I limit the numbers of interview preparation clients I work with each year. To give yourself the greatest chance of success, you need to start well in advance and ideally commit to at least 2 sessions with me. A single session the week before your interview just won’t give us time to work on the fundamentals that give you genuine confidence.
Develop the confidence to impress the panel and get that job.
What you’ll get:
- Personalised one on one coaching with me. We’ll start with the basics, working on succinctly presenting your unique skills and achievements. I’ll help you present examples that highlight your strengths and prepare answers to typical questions for your specialty area. I’ll work with you on strategies for “tricky” questions and give you tips on dealing with nerves.
- Access to my extensive bank of typical questions
- Detailed written reports of each session with feedback on both content and presentation and concrete suggestions for improvement
- Ongoing support via email to review draft answers
I know your time’s limited. I offer sessions via Skype if you aren’t in Sydney and flexible times for sessions, including some after hours and weekends.
Initial session 90 minutes: $550
Follow up (if needed) 60 minutes: $440
Feel in control and confident in your interview.
